Located in the village of Ascot in Berkshire, Ascot Racecourse is used for thoroughbred horse racing. It was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and over the past 300 years it has established itself as one of the world’s most famous racecourses and home to top quality Flat and Jump racing throughout the year.

Today there are twenty-five days of racing over the course each year, comprising sixteen Flat meetings held in the months of May and October with the highlight being the Royal Ascot week in June. On the third day of Royal Ascot, there’s the Gold Cup race with over £3 million of prize money. This is traditionally the busiest day of the week and it’s also referred to as “Ladies’ Day”. During this week, over 300,000 people make the annual visit to Berkshire. This makes Ascot Europe’s best-attended race meeting.

After having undergone major redevelopments, Her Majesty The Queen officially opened the racecourse on the opening day of Royal Ascot in 2006.

There are frequent service to Ascot from Reading and also from London Waterloo with average journey times of approx 30 minutes from Reading and 45 minutes from Waterloo.
