THEATRE NEWS: Live From The Criterion returns with Lesley Sharp in The Ruffian on the Stair

London Art Scene from The Art Stop

Tomorrow Live From The Criterion returns for another special installment - this time featuring radio play, The Ruffian on the Stair, by Joe Orton. It will star Lesley Sharp (Doctor Who, Crandord, The Full Monty), alongside Johnny Flynn (Jerusalem) and Finbar Lynch (Duchess of Malfi, King Lear, The Hothouse).

If you're not yet familiar with the Life From... series, let me explain. The season features a fantastic series of radio plays; all classics, which are being recreated on stage by well-established actors.

The Ruffian on the Stair tells the tale of an intriguing and handsome young man who turns up, out of the blue, on the doorstep of a working-class couple. They live in London, with not much space - and yet, they take him in, not aware of what trouble he may cause.

And obviously he does cause trouble - but not in any regular way. Instead, this young man takes it upon himself to play with the couple minds, fulfilling his desire for revenge on them. But what does he want revenge for? You'll have to catch the play to find out...

Live from the Criterion: Joe Orton, The Ruffian on the Stair, opens tomorrow, Thursday 17th May 2012 at 5pm. Tickets cost £12.50.
