BRITISH CRAFT: Celebrate the Brit' bicycle with Saint

London Art Scene from The Art Stop

With everyone and his dog getting all patriotic this week, it seems the perfect time for this special event - a celebration of British craft and in partciular, the bicycle.

The night will take place this Wednesday at 'Look Mum No Hands', a well-loved store for bikes and coffee - and is organised by British lager brand, Saint.

The night itself will be hosted by world record-breaking cyclist James Bowthorpe, while designer Robin Mather will also be present to talk about his intricate frame work with Rapha for the UK Continental Project. There will also be a talk from Union Cycle Works.

James Bowthorpe has cycled the world in 174 days and five hours - which is no easy feat we're sure you'll agree! But it was his passion for the sport that kept him going and it's this passion that James will be addressing on Wednesday. He'll also be discussing the importance of bicycles in the present day, as well as the beauty of its craft.

Commenting on the event James said, “Bike craftsmanship is becoming increasingly instrumental in developing the world we live in today.

"You might know that the inventors of the motorcar were bike mechanics first and foremost, and that the Wright Brothers also started out in bike manufacture and I can’t wait to share my passion for this fantastic craft.”
