I am back.

Debby's Blog

I have been absent for some months here, due to a horse riding accident. But all is going well now and I am back to write some London blogs for you. In the week I spent in hospital and after that the weeks working on my recovery (which is still in progress) I had some time to read some travelguides on London. I know the city pretty well, but I found out that there is still much to see. Some things are for free, others are not. But my experience is that most things you pay for are worth it. There was one exception, though. I had to pay £6.00 to get entrance to the Horseguard Museum. The museum was smaller than I thought and I hardly saw any horse in the stable. It took me longer to buy the ticket than it took me to see the museum. I had a little visitor too. I shared the room with a little mouse. The mouse probably loved the straw and hay that were in the stables for the horses, and wanted to see the museum as well. A good museum to visit is the Charles Dickens Museum. I don't remember what I payed to get into the museum, but I had a lovely afternoon. I must add that I love Dickens's books, and it was great to walk in his footsteps. The library is wonderful. You can find all of Dickens books there and in all kinds of languages and prints. The lady I met there told me that she always loves to watch people pointing out the books they have at home or the ones they used to read. I spent a lovely afternoon with the lady and learned a lot about Dickens.

Some of my favorite free museums are the National History Museum, the Science Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. I told you all about these in earlier blogs. There is still a big part of London that I want to discover. I doubt if that is going to happen this year, as I am learning to walk again (I broke my leg in a horse riding accident), but next year I am going for sure. I have a little list of things I want to see. Some things are in area's I have visited before, and others in areas I haven't visited before. Seeing the Olympics was making me homesick for London. It still is the best place on earth for me, and I am looking forward to explore this wonderful city once more. This site keeps you up to date with events in London. You can find everything you are looking for on this site. I check it weekly to see if there are some new London surprises for me in store. If I finsd them I am more than happy to share them with you.
