Three GREAT ways to end the summer holidays

London Art Scene from The Art Stop

With all the ‘back to school’ gear firmly filling up the shelves, it’s hard to ignore the fact summer is coming to a close. But fear not, there’s still a bank holiday weekend and final week of fun left to be had – and there are some pretty cool events scheduled, to make sure August goes out with a bang!

Free Breakfast Festival
You read right, that says ‘FREE breakfast’. And the best thing about this particular free brekkie is that it runs all day. The Original Oatly Break-Fast festival takes place on Saturday 30 August at Brockwell Park, and brings a little taste of Sweden to South London. Activities for the day are based around the Swedish theme (Oatly’s is a Swedish brand, you know), with traditional games like Kaninhop (a traditional rabbit race) and Kubb (knocking over your opponent’s wooden blocks) happening.
There’ll also be a luxurious lie-in lounge for those who need a nap in between all the free food enjoyment. Singing sensation Kyla La Grange will be providing the music while guests can indulge in everything from freshly made pancakes to fruit smoothies and blueberry muffins. What’s not to love?

The story of Brazilian music culture comes to London
DJ Gilles Peterson recently travelled to Rio, Brazil to assemble a cast of incredibly talented musicians. Together they made a record, Brasil – Bam Bam Bam and filmed this journey with Directors Charlie Inman and Ben Holman, so they could tell the story of this extraordinary country through music. On the trip they learnt about everything from the hidden favela culture through to the exotic tones of Samba. Bam Bam Bam: The Story of Sonzeira is their final account and Gilles and Charlie will be available for a post-screening Q&A.
