London Dog Blog - Free microchipping from a vet near you

Dogs in London - The London Dog Blog

Most responsible dog owners will have had their pet microchipped. However, it may have skipped the attention of those who have had their dogs for a long time or if the cost was thought to be a deterrent. But the law is changing and it will become compulsory from April 2016 (March 2015 in Wales).

The Dogs Trust is currently operating a fantastic scheme offering free microchipping at numerous vets across the capital (and the nation).

You should be aware that if your dog is lost you have only a week to reclaim it before it is re-housed or destroyed. With recent research showing that three in 10 people mislay their dog at least once in its lifetime (councils handle 110,675 missing dogs each year) then a microchip is vital to make it quick and easy to reunite you.
