Splurge vs Save - Clarins vs M&S

Love London

Being an eyes girl, few beauty items can seduce me as quickly as a luxurious eye palette and with a host of newbies on the block in the last 12 months its certainly been a good year for them. There are two that have really stood out for me in recent weeks, both great additions to any make up arsenal and worth noting down on your Christmas list, just in case Santa's looking...

First up, from Clarins, The Essentials Mineral Eye Make Up Palette, a Limited Edition for Christmas. With 10 gorgeously wearable shades, ranging from everyday neutrals to an intense, shimmering bronze, there's a variety of matte, satin and pearl finishes for endless combinations. The wet-to-dry formula gives long-lasting colour and as all are ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested, they're suitable for even the most sensitive of eyes. With a handy mirror inside the box and a double ended applicator (one for defining the eye and one for shading and blending) it's a nifty travel accessory and will certainly be joining me on my trip to New York later this week. £35 from www.clarins.co.uk.

Not to be overlooked however, is the brilliant Marks & Spencer Autograph Eye Palette. An absolute bargain at just £14, the sleek rose gold packaging will look gorgeous on any dressing table, not to mention the amazing 12 eyeshadow colours it houses. They've become my daily go to as the easily blendable shades are the perfect palette for a subtle winter eye, finished with a smudge of kohl and lashings of Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara. I've also bought three already for Christmas presents as it's the ideal compact size to fit in even the smallest of stockings. www.marksandspencer.com.
