If you fancy a little something different for your afternoon tea, this month sees Michelin-starred Chinese dim sum teahouse Yauatcha, by the internationally acclaimed Hakkasan Group, celebrate Chinese New Year by forming an exclusive collaboration with global endeavour [b]The Campaign for Wool[b/].

The brands have transformed the restaurant by designing a Year of the Sheep pop art window display in addition to an unconventional art gallery and Camira fabrics wool makeover within the Soho restaurant until February 28th.

The Campaign for Wool and Yauatcha have designed the one-off window display to honour the most auspicious date in the Chinese calendar, taking inspiration from the Year of the Sheep and the innovative local area of Soho. Passers-by will observe the colourful creation filling the window, depicting different breeds of sheep in the iconic pop art style.

Throughout February the restaurant and bar will be home to a pop-up gallery, with additional sheep prints adorning the walls. The restaurant will also be treated to an interiors makeover by The Campaign for Wool, punctuated by bespoke upholstered furnishings in wool fabric by Camira.

In keeping with the Chinese tradition of gifting red envelopes containing money, Yauatcha will be giving away eight – a lucky number in China – lavish prizes through social media. Neon sheep statues will be hidden throughout Soho during February – those who spot them and upload the image via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram will win meals for two, petits gateaux and cocktails.

Those born in the Year of the Sheep often display characteristics of being artistic and creative. Yauatcha’s pastry team have kept this central to the campaign by producing limited-edition sheep-themed macarons and petits gateaux which will be added to the existing array of award-winning desserts and handmade chocolates:
Macarons Caramelised sheep’s milk macaron coated with oats, filled with dulce de leche. £1.80 each.
Petits Gateaux Sheep’s milk yoghurt bavarois centred with lemon curd and lemon sable on a bed of lemon sponge and pandan buttercream, garnished with sheep’s yoghurt cream with crystallised grains, flowers and cress. £5.90 (retail); £8.80 (à la carte).

Guests will also be able to enjoy a one-off cocktail, the Yáng Walker, throughout February. Translating as The Shepherd, it contains a concoction of Asian ingredients including Du Kang Baijiu, Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky, Japanese plum sake, rosemary, grapefruit juice, ginger bitters and lime.
Guests at Yauatcha on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd February will view the spectacle of the traditional Chinese lion dance, with the raucous theatrical procession of the lion visiting every table with its colourful and noisy celebratory performance.
