Hipster cafe attacked by anti-gentrification protesters

The well-known Shoreditch hipster cafe, Cereal Killer, which serves only breakfast cereal, was targeted by a 200-strong anti-gentrification mob carrying medieval sticks, stones and flaming torches.

The protesters, many of whom were wearing pig masks, graffitied "scum" on the windows while terrified customers hid inside.

Alan Keery, who owns the business with his brother Gary, said: “There were children there – they were terrified".

Gary continued, “It wasn’t as if they were walking past and just happened to stumble upon us. They were deliberately coming here, throwing cereal and shouting ‘gentrification’, ‘anarchy’.”

Police were called to the area on Saturday night, which was advertised on Facebook stating “Our communities are being ripped apart - by Russian oligarchs, Saudi Sheiks, Israeli scumbag property developers, Texan oil-money t***s and our own home-grown Eton toffs."

“Soon this City will be an unrecognisable, bland, yuppie infested wasteland with no room for normal (and not so normal) people like us.”

Cereal Killer opened last December and was picked up by the London anti-gentrification movement radar after a Channel 4 interviewer asked if local people could afford to pay £3.20 for a bowl of cereal.

The “F**k Parade” demonstration, was apparently organised by the anarchist group Class War.

One arrest was made.
