Try and deny it, but Autumn is most definitely upon us and with it comes an overhaul of my cosmetics. Long gone are the shimmering bronzers to highlight my (now non-existent) golden decolleté, the delicate coral-coloured lip glosses and my 50 shades of copper eye collection. It's time for a new hue.
Being hazel-eyed, purple has always worked well for me (with the exception of the Rimmel Heather Shimmer lipstick every 90s teenager seemed to relish...) and the new autumn collection from Clarins is no exception. The Ombre Matte cream-to-powder eyeshadow in Heather (£19.00) is lightweight, mattifying and long-lasting, staying crease-free throughout the day. Two luscious lip treats are currently on rotation in my make up bag, the first being the new incarnation of Balmi's classic Blackcurrant lip cube. The multi-purpose balm (great for taming eyebrows) has been jazzed up for AW15 in its new metallic packaging, while the delicious Ribena-taste hasn't gone away. The second that's become a firm favourite of mine is the utterly delectable Baume de Rose Nutri-Couleur in Fig Fiction from By Terry (£35.50 at www.uk.spacenk.com). The super-hydrating formula pampers and soothes with softening rose flower essential wax, lipo-regenerating shea butter, free radical fighting vitamin E and restructuring ceramides, while the delicate figgy hue adds a tinge of autumnal colour to lips. Warning: you may become addicted, it's that amazing.
Finally, to the product that's become a staple of my bedside table beauty tray, Nuxe's Nuxellence Detox night cream (£47.00 from Space NK and www.uk.nuxe.com). With a whopping 10 patents, it's a major anti-angeing innovation, tailored to suit all skin types and all ages. It's become something of a saviour, refreshing and reviving my skin night after night.
