Treat Yourself - It's National Spa Week...

Love London

As if we needed any excuse to book for a little R&R, we're currently in the midst of National Spa Week, the perfect opportunity to organise a getaway, switch off and treat yourself to a well earned rest.

The UK Spa Association's week is dedicated to raising awareness of spas and their benefits to feeling great. With just 8% of the UK population having set foot in a spa, National Spa Week aims to make it even easier for people to enjoy the benefits of spas and salons by inviting them to treat themselves to the many tempting offers and activities available at partnering spas and salons nationwide.

Spas and salons up and down the country are offering special ‘treat’ menus as well as a wide range of exclusive offers and social activities, such as bringing a friend to spa for free, signature spa day packages and quick fix treatments such as mini manicures, pedicures and express massages at introductory prices.

There will also be competitions and raffles to win spa days and spa product gifts plus a whole host of fundraising events such as sponsored walks, guest challenges and massage-athons! The official charity partner for National Spa Week 2015 is Macmillan Cancer Support with fundraising specifically for Macmillan nurses in the community.

Dozens of spas are involved this year including spa groups such as QHotels and Virgin Active; plus independent spas ranging from Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall in Co Durham in the North to Dolphin Square in London, along with industry partners: The Good Spa Guide, Spa Traveller and Wahanda who will be hosting week long celebrations of spa and wellbeing.

Speaking on the announcement of National Spa Week 2015, Charlie Thompson, Chair of the UK Spa Association, says “The importance of taking ’me’ time out to relax and unwind are well known and we want more people to experience these benefits. Whether you’re a ‘spa person’ or not, National Spa Week is the time to check out your local spa or salon and treat yourself. Then see how great it feels.”

Have a look below for National Spa Week’s Top 5 Tips for incorporating ‘spa’ into your life...

1. A massage isn’t just for Christmas! Make a resolution to have a monthly massage and wonder why you didn’t do this earlier. Or better still, persuade your boss to arrange it on behalf of the company and let them witness your productivity soar!

2. Host a pop-up spa in your own bathroom. Build your box of spa goodies ie aromatherapy candle, dead sea salts, favourite tunes, mindfulness book, favourite champagne glass for your choice of bubbles and once a week enjoy the contents locked away in the comfort of your own bathroom.

3. See the professionals. Beauty and spa therapists have spent years training to understand the workings of the skin which is why they usually have the most amazing complexions. Book yourself in for a skin analysis and find out what state your skin is in and how you too can look as good as them.

4. Start the day hydrated. When you wake up get in the habit of drinking a large cup of hot water with fresh lemon and raw honey. Not only does it instantly hydrate the body but it also helps cleanse your digestive system.

5. Sign up to the newsletters of your favourite spas and salons and take advantage of the many incredible offers they issue first to their subscribers.
