Hard though it may be to believe, there's only nine weeks until springtime officially kicks in. Though I for one will undoubtedly be shod in my trusty Clarks winter boots until then (I detest having cold toes...) there's no shame in the early bird catching the proverbial worm when it comes to seasonal wardrobe prep.
Step one for me this season (no pun intended...) is to smarten up a smidge and with my quest for the perfect semi-formal flat ever-present - until I can justifiably afford Russell & Bromley loafers in every colour that is - the high street is my friend. I pleasantly surprised to stumble across these fabulous flatties in Next, somewhere I rarely venture in to and yet has crossed my path a number of times recently and left me impressed. As someone who loathes plastic shoes, the fact that they are real suede certainly ticks a box (though I will be sure to Scotchguard the hell out of them before wearing...) and sitting at the exact crossroads of chic, practical, comfy (hopefully) and smart means they will be perfect with cropped jeans, a crisp white shirt and blazer come springtime.
