With a change in season comes a complete overhaul of my perfume wardrobe as well as my sartorial. Gone are the fresh and fruity fragrances that take me through the summer months, exchanged for an altogether more sultry scent. As someone who has a plethora of perfumes for every occasion, there are three that are particularly tickling my autumnal fancy at the moment.
Released in August, the latest addition to Burberry olfactory portfolio is the rather delicious My Burberry Black. A more intense update on the bestselling My Burberry, it's still a classic floral but a more heady, cosy, sultry version with jasmine at the top, a heart of candied roses and peach nectar and a warm base of amber and patchouli. With such elaborate packaging one could be forgiven for thinking Marc Jacobs scents were a tad gimmicky. The latest offering, Decadence comes in the form of a gilt-chained snakeskin evening purse, natch, an apparent 'personal talisman' of the man himself. Much more mature a scent compared to the likes of Lola or Daisy, this is sexy and sophisticated, with top notes including Italian plum, saffron and iris, a heart of Bulgarian rose, Sambac jasmine and orris root form the heart of the perfume and a base including warm liquid amber, vetiver and papyrus wood. Calvin Klein isn't usually a got to fragrance brand for me, not since I got hold of a bottle of the original Euphoria about ten years ago, but the arrival of the new Deep Euphoria has definitely changed that. It's a gorgeous chypre, with a fresh start of cascalone molecule, mandarin leaf and white pepper. A beautiful heart of black rose, jasmine and geranium and the classic chypre base of patchouli and musk. It's irresistable. From £38 for 30ml at www.theperfumeshop.com
