About Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre
Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre will begin construction in 2009 and is to host the slalom canoeing and slalom kayaking events in the 2012 Summer Olympics. The site is situated on the edge of the Lee Valley Regional Park in Hertfordshire, 30km north of the Olympic Park but will be directly linked with the site via the River Lee. Once complete, Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre will have seating for 12,000 spectators. Whitewater Canoe/Kayak Slalom courses will be created for the Olympics as will a permanent 300m competition course and a 100m warm-up course. Since both courses will remain after the Games, the site will not only become a world-class Whitewater Canoe Centre both for elite athletes and beginners, but it will also become a major leisure attraction.
