My Review
10 out of 10 stars
I first went to The Three Crowns back in late 2005 whilst waiting for my wife, whilst she was having a job interview. It looked mild and well mannered from the outside but once inside, it typified the 'Great British Pub'. Comfortable seating, a standing area to chat around, great service and very welcoming patrons. I then got chatting to the landlady, a wonderful honest, open and friendly person you could ever wish to meet. We returned some weeks later for more interviews and once again I headed straight for the pub (I blame the nerves!). Once again, welcomed and well looked after. We had a meal on this occasion, and boy what a meal! For once I was full after eating my tasty 'bangers and mash' (can't beat good honest pub grub). I returned once more before departing England for brighter shores and said my farewells to the landlady of the century. We remain truly good friends to this day and stay in contact from the other side of the world. I miss the pub, there aren't too many local pubs where I now live. Go in there if your passing, the patrons are really nice and should you happen to meet the landlady, tell her Matt from New Zealand sent you. I miss the atmosphere, the bloody good food, and I miss the landlady, Hilary Martin-Clark.
