10 out of 10 stars
I went to the Wellington in December 2009 and have to say I had a fantastic night. Number one for me has to be the music, in any club.
And the music played at the Wellington was genius.
The interior is fabulous - a unique and majorly stylish venue.
Its an attraction in itself.
The vibe in the club is absolutely sensational. Amd the layout encourages dancing!
This place is like no other.
The Wellington wins the prize.
An amazing club.
Long may its vibrancy shimmer!

2 out of 10 stars
I was taken by a member down to the Wellington last weekend, and the disappointment was palpable. To begin with, it looks as if Damien Hirst has thrown up in the place... there is no sign of clever or thoughtful decor at all, just gaudy sensationalist, brit-pop kitsch that is a decade or two out of date.
There is no sign of exclusivity either. As far as I could see, anyone with 15 quid was allowed through the door. The only advantage that I could see of going with a member was that we were permitted in free of charge. The staff were rude, and the doormen incredibly so, caring little about the punters. Hardly a member's club service.
The clientele were seedy and gaudy (much like the decor) - a mixture of chavs, Eastern European mafia and wealthy Middle Easterners, with a good sprinkling of rather circumspect looking young girls thrown into the mix.
I practically beat down the door to get out of there, it was so unpleasant, and I certainly will not be going back. The only redeeming factor of the place was that the drinks were not completely unreasonable.

Great expectations, Great disappointment: Food decorations from the nursery down the road. Portions to feed a kitten. Zero atmosphere, and no sign of exclusivity....not even a red candle just to give our table the faintest Xmasy allure. Altogether very zealous service. Just as well because the freezing cold draughts would have made our party the perfect guinea pigs for a hibernation experiment, had we not left soon enough. Yes, admittedly, the premises were cold to say the least, and no customers took their coats off in the dining lounge. To our great disappointment for having spent time in dressing up!! Not to mention the minimum spend of £500 to sit in the dancing room, which we had not been informed about even if pre booked. We cut our evening short in order to save some candle lights that the staff kept replenishing on our table as a source of heating. We appreciated the minimalist and eco-friendly attitude to climate change due to heating fumes, but were not happy to have our complaints ridiculed and rudely dismissed.

I have never been to the Wellington Club but I would love to go - even in disguise. The guests certainly seem to enjoy themselves and there's no shortage of boys.

we (hubby andI) were lucky enough to win a visit for the robert cavalli vodka launch on wednesday night, the club and staff were great but the highlight was in the Lounge Bar where there is a magnificent display of Damien Hirst art. It was fantastic, I only wish we could revisit again some time. As I said the staff were welcoming, drinks 1st class and the food was delicious - would love to return as paying guests though I understand it's members only - susanjessejames@yahoo.co.uk
