"once you’re in, there’s a whole lot to like"

Since everyone repeats that there are no longer any good clubs in London so much that you have to start to begin to believe them, hows-about Catch? No, it may not really be a club so to speak but at least with places like this the people still have somewhere in Shoreditch that feels relatively untouched by the influx of ‘WEHEYYYY LADS!!!’ and the stag parties that have moved on from Brown’s.

You can see from the outside what it might feel like to be on the inside with its grimy windows and ripped posters tatting it up, but once night falls the filth turns chic for anyone venturing up the stairs to the bar and once you’re in, there’s a whole lot to like. Catch has been popular for years with new generations of hipster taking over the mantle and keeping the place alive. Consistently full of the young and hot listening to things as diverse as the Pixies and Slayer, it also lets in a Hip-Hop night once a month that’s surprisingly good, as it relies almost solely on the Golden Age of the nineties. There are also various live nights from lo-fi labels and new bands, which are generally worth a look. The drinks are basic- spirits and standard lagers (on draught) but most people will be looking for the cheapest option they can find. Catch is basically Courtney Love, slightly messy and always with the potential for something outrageous to occur and what’s more you’re likely to hear Hole too.
