There are a few good reasons for visiting this pub; firstly, its interior is that of a traditional Victorian London pub, the mirrors and etched glass immediately take you back to a bygone era of street urchins (rather than hoodies) and clay pipes (rather than a roll up stood outside in the rain). Secondly, it stands on not one but two streets (Great Portland and Riding House) so after spending the allotted amount of time supping your favourite brew, you can leave via the 'other' door and feel as though you've made some progress in your travels (no time wasting guilt for me thank you very much), but its piece de résistance (for the oft full weekend crawl) is the ironing board shaped table! How many times have you woke up in a dingy bed and breakfast only to find your one and only shirt crumpled in the corner (don't mention the kebab juice stains)? A visit to this pub affords you the opportunity to decrease your garment whilst downing a cold pint.
