I have eaten at the George and Dragon seven times since the beginning of the year (2008), restricting myself to main meals only. The pub does not serve meals in the evening. This is unfortunate as I would probably make use of it in the evening a couple of times a year.
The service has always been good and the staff friendly. The menu is vreasonably varied, especially considering the pub is quite small; it maintains an intimate, "local" feel. The standard of the food is good as are the portions and the prices are very reasonable.
Because the establishment is so popular it pays to book in advance even early in the week; I once arrived on spec only to find that all of the tables were taken.There is only seating for about 40 people including non-diners plus the bar itself, which isn't very big.
In addition to the food, the pub serves a changing range of draft beers. My experience is that they have always been well kept and it is a pub that, as a beer drinker, I would be happy to visit even if I were not interested in eating; its a shame that I live so far away from the area and can only get there when I am working in the area.
