My Review

5 out of 10 stars

Years ago when I worked in farringdon the area was full of great Bristish pub restaurants - The Fox and Anchor, The Newmarket, The Bishop's Finger, The****Tavern and the best of th elot the Hope in Cowcross Street.

I came back to the area this week and as a metter of nostalgia organised a breakfast at the Hope. Oh my what has happened to this once gem of hearty breakfasts. The menu si still appealing to th ebusinessman. The trademark champagne breakfast is at th ehead of the menu. We book on a Friday and half th etable were empty. Unknown years ago. One member of staff a harrassed young lady was rushing around serving not that many but it appeared too much. It took 15 minuted for het to bring the menu and another 15 minutes to bring a pot of tea. The table next door had ahad enough of how slow it was getting and walked out. Shame really as the ambience is still there. Food is definately not to the standards of years ago. Bacon was undercooked and the smoked haddock wasn't smoked in the slightest. £15 per head is expensive.

The Hope is sadly on the slide downwards. Please put it right soon.
