Although the terrace is a positive the negative (and agressive) staff make it impossible to enjoy this pub. They are not flexible or friendly to groups and generally unhelpful or perhaps simply ignorant of people's needs and wishes

Despite bad reviews, my cousins and I decided to give the King of Diamonds the benefit of the doubt and eat there for our Christmas gathering. It started off nicely (well, apart from the irritating d'n'b playing loudly) with drinks around the table and were excited about the prospect of the vast choice of burgers and classic pub food we were reading on the menu.
It all started to go down hill when we were told that half of the orders had run out. However, we re-ordered and looked forward to our starters in the mean time. Half an hour later and no starters, we were repeatedly told they would be with us any minute, so when our main courses arrived first we were slightly confused. The assistant manager very rudely told us that she was not a mind reader and how was she to know that we wanted them as starters, despite us having stated it. When declining to eat the starters she simply grunted 'it's your money'. We then noticed that one of our party had yet not been given his main course. Again, four times over the space of 20 minutes we were told it would be arriving in a couple of minutes, and when it finally did, the burger was so burnt it was inedible, but told by the waiter that 'it was nothing to do with' him.
Granted the staff did not make us pay for the late burger, they made absolutely no effort to come to a compromise about the starters and just shrugged at us when we tried to reason with them. Customer service is absolutely non-existent in this pub, as is pretty much the entire menu. Oh and the the food was cold on arrival too. Avoid.

Friendly service? Some of the staff are sound, but the manager (apparantly) is far from it. Has a real go at customers at times and not in a fun way. There are other places to go in the area, and while this place can be handy enough, it has issues.

I went for a quiet pint and sandwich in this 'pub' today and halfway through my meal I was startled to see what appeared to be a family of shrews dart across the floor..stopping only to pick up a stray peanut, I mean you'd expect this in Victorian London but I think in this day and age shrews in a pub is totally un-acceptable...please sort it out!

We just had lunch there today and a new food service system was in place - which clearly wasn't working! I was 25 minutes late back to work because the food took 45 minutes to arrive and 3 other tables who arrived after me got served before. Waitress explained to table next to us how they lost 1 order, then Chef found it & re-coooked whole order. Lets hope the delays etc were due to teething problems and the King of Diamonds "top service" is back to usual as soon as possible. Great food, great atmosphere & normaly great service - as they say.....if it's not broken, don't mend it. I'll be back very soon to see if things have resumed, albeit with a bit of fine tweaking. Regards. Mrs
