All In London Review

Interesting cocktails, but poor service lets Foundation down

Review Image
Step into most West End bars and you’ll find they follow the same theme: clubby neon lighting, EDM and cocktails like the porn star martini. Many of these are owned by Novus Leisure, the UK’s biggest bar operator.

Foundation is one such venue, where drinks called things like #Selfie and Despicable Me are listed on record sleeves, while the food menus are printed on vinyl LPs. We start with a classic gin martini and an Old Fashioned, before venturing onto more creative territory. The Starfxxxs! tastes like a boozy Dr Pepper, and comes with the added bonus of personalising your cup with your name - the boif is sorely disappointed when he’s not asked to do this. We also finally discover what happens when you mix champagne, beer, brandy and raspberry liqueur together (trust us, this has been attempted at the end of many a houseparty, we just can’t remember the result) with the For Him, and it’s surprisingly good.

Food is typical booze-soaking stuff. Voodoo chicken wings are drowned in a slightly cloying hot sauce, and a moreish, mild chorizo sausage is wrapped in doughy pastry. We like the smoked dog piled high with fresh onion, chilli, sour cream and mustard, here served in a ciabatta rather than a roll.

All of this is perfectly satisfactory as bars like this serve their purpose perfectly: as a place for post-work catch-ups and office parties; what is irksome is the tedious wait at the bar while staff are having a conflab among themselves and not paying attention to who needs serving. Unfortunately for Foundation poor service lets it down.

This is one of the worst place I have ever been to! The bar itself looks nice but the management should be replaced asap.

I went there on Friday evening with a couple of my friends. There were a few tables booked from 7pm. I asked a member of staff if we can have a sit until the quest arrive but he rudely refused saying that they're on their way. Two hours later we got the same answer. One of my mate has a broken leg so he could barely stand for such a long time and well.. we could at least have a sit, order a few drinks and simply go out.

I just want to add that there is a note left on each table saying that you're more than welcome to take a sit until the quest arrive.
REALLY????

P.S. People who booked a table never showed up. Manager’s friends eventually took the table. How nice!

Well, a Christmas party there is a VERY BAD IDEA!
Please consider twice

I visited the langley for their cocktail launch party in Feb and it was brilliant.
The cocktails are great and good value to and to add to my birthday night there was a live show from Amanda Wilson who was without a doubt just fantastic.
I have checked the venue out since and they have more shows coming up and personally I can’t wait for Vula from Basement Jaxx.....What a great
Have your say
