The Colony Room is possibly one of the funniest bars I've ever been to. Throughout it's many years in existence (60'ish I believe) it has seen the likes of Andy Warhol & Tracey Emmins in attendance. The bar is entirely green - BRIGHT GREEN and displays nik naks plucked from many of the eras through which it has served. This bar is pure indulgence & to ridicule it is ignorance. It is what it is, damn good fun!

The Colony rooms could be described as a flepit. The carpets are threadbare and stained with old booze as are most of the male members there whoa re quite elderly and very competitve at the sight of a female under 50. One is meant to savour the ambeince created by its celebrity clientelle, howver I am afriad that Damien Hurst and Tracey Emin have other haunts. This place trades on nostalgia which if thats what you want then enjoy, but prepare to be disillusioned by the drunks and decor.

Smallish and familiar, Colony Club is hangout for bohos and artistes. Nice pictures on the wall of members and works by Francis Bacon.

If you go with a member, you can get signed in.

Watch out for the short-changing barman though.
