The beautiful and award winning Lost Society is a bar/restaurant split over 2 floors, the original part of the building is over 400 years old and was a part of the Manor estate of Clapham, many moons ago. The bar also offers Clapham’s only late licensed garden. Each room at Lost Society is themed and distinctly unique. The decedent conservatory, the library bar, the black and white room, the mezzanine dining restaurant and the secret garden each offer unique experiences.

Lost Society: beats a night down Vodka Revolution any day

When thinking of a description to aptly convey the bar/club/restaurant that is Clapham’s Lost Society there was only one thing that kept popping up; classy meat market. If one is single and looking for an altogether more upmarket place to pull than, say, Yates’s in Leicester Square, then this is the place.

Located in sunny south London, a short walk from Clapham Common, the Lost Society is a bit of a mystery. The décor is cosy, charming and stylish even – see the wooden beams, back bar and farmhouse staircase – but it is also claustrophobic and relentless. Once a part of the Manor estate of Clapham, the main building is over 400 years old, possibly people were smaller then and dance moves weren’t quite so expansive?

Make no mistake; this is a club to all intents and purposes. If you’re on the first floor and you’re not dancing then you’re being smashed into; so get dancing or get downstairs. Perhaps it’s the tight corners and lack of space that leaves it all feeling like a little too much at times.

But it’s easy to see why it seems to be a popular weekend haunt. For a start, the DJs are good, playing a mixture of dance, hip-hop and electro that all comes out sounding like a Krafty Kuts album – definitely a good thing. The next thing is that is you happen to be single then… wow. Singles night? No, the norm apparently and are there many better reasons for going to a bar like this?

Drinks are expensive and the lack of draught lager/ale is irritating. However, with Sierra Nevada by the bottle, all is not lost and the range of cocktails is a good alternative to overpriced bottled lager.

The Lost Society is probably better than a lot of bars of a similar ilk; it certainly beats a night down Vodka Revolution any day.

Clapham is often unfairly written off as a couples’ paradise, a place where Londoners seem destined to settle down. However, The Lost Society has a different view of things. This hedonistic, bolthole is the perfect place to get up close and personal with people. The cramped dance floor virtually guarantees physical contact in the swanky loft.

Lost society is a breath of fresh air. Been a few times over the last few months on different nights of the week.

Incredibly busy on the weekends, more chilled out and about the food during the week. 3 very good things about this bar, the drinks (1) and food (2) - classic and imaginative in-house cocktails, fantastic bottled beer range, and a big wine list, basically something for everyone, not just a poncey bar that looks down at you if you order a beer instead of a manhattan!

Most importantly (3), the staff, so friendly and helpful. people who work in the service industry who actually care about serving people, looking after the customer, making you feel welcome.

“It was the ideal location for my 30th bday - spacious and grown-up enough that I wasn't pressed against hordes of teenyboppers but glamorous enough to make me feel like I wasn't becoming middle-aged. The food was delicious, cocktails heavenly, and the waiters super-friendly - rare in a London bar. The different levels and rooms, including the leafy beer garden all have a different vibe, making it a slightly different experience each time you visit. If you haven't been before, go now!
