The Flask is one of Highgate's most popular pubs, with its large beer garden very popular in the summer months. Good pub food on offer and a good selection of beers.

All In London Review

The Flask is a great place to spend a long, lazy Saturday sipping a variety of beers in the sun.

Arriving at this pub, as so many do, from the ultra steep Swain’s Lane that runs parallel with Highgate Cemetery, you become aware that this area is a bit special. For somewhere so (relatively) close to the centre of London the leafy environment you find on Highgate Hill is a shock. With Hampstead Heath a short walk to the east, the aforementioned cemetery and the greenery of the roundabout at Highgate West Hill, The Flask finds itself in a virtual London oasis.

With all that freshness lurking outside it’s no surprise that The Flask is one of Highgate’s most popular pubs – especially in summer. You’ll find cyclists aplenty in the large beer garden, along with families and big groups. At the top of a hill, it is as much a meeting place as a pub. From plenty of benches and high tables on the outside to the cosy, intimate interior within, this pub is laid out well.

There is no pretense about The Flask and its clientele. It is a welcoming local that clearly attracts the well-heeled residents who inhabit this part of London, giving it that family-friendly, aspirational feel you might find in a wealthy village pub out in the country – only with £2,000 road bikes parked outside instead of Land Rovers. It is a fine place for a lazy weekend lunch where fish and chips, burgers and roasts represent a menu of classics. But, the food is fairly heavy, so when it comes to warmer weather the quality behind the bar is a welcome distraction. As a Fuller’s pub you’ll always be able to find the likes of London Pride and Honeydew on draught but there is much more available. From Meantime Wheat on tap to various Belgian beers by the bottle, this is a pub that caters to the full spectrum of beer drinkers and has the enviable beer garden to match the talent behind the bar.

The Flask is a great destination pub to savour after a long walk/cycle/drive; cold or warm, both interior and exterior are a comfortable place to end up.
