London's best-loved house music clubs

Resurrect the tie-dye... it's time for some House.

The Coronet is a relative newcomer to the London club scene but that hasn’t stopped it putting on some of the best nights around. Putting together everything from D&B nights to hard house it has gained a loyal following thanks to its quality line-ups. Elephant and Castle has never looked so appealing for a night out.

I went to the XOYO LOVES event. The show itself was ok, although the sound system in the main room was pretty low, which made it difficult for the DJ's to create a vibe. The music in Room 2 upstairs was better than the music in the main room (My Preference). The security staff were rude and obnoxious. They were obviously bored, so started to antagonise and provoke situations. However, there was a really polite toilet attendant. The drinks were way too expensive, £30 FOR 4 DRINKS, WTF? I would never attend this venue again, not even if it was for free.

Have been going to The Coronet for years and have definitely encountered some issues but have to say the past year or so have been a real turnaround, recent Groove Armada & New Years Eve nights were massive highlights for me. Definitely one of the best superclubs in the capital. Keep an eye out for it! Nothing to do with these past reviews! I'm in love with this venue!

recently attended the Pandemic of Noise festival at the Coronet featuring 26/09/09 Fun Lovin Criminals and Asian Dub Foundation. The gig was great but the Staff were ALL rude, bossy, and arrogant. Especially the female security guards at the entrance! After airport styled metal detectors, purses were then rifled through telling people you cant bring in chewing gum, personal medicine, and items like hand lotion accompanied by extremely condescending attitude to match! I can understand security searches but no need for rudeness.
There is also NO re-admittance and drinks were way over priced £4.50 for a CAN of lager, and yes a round of drinks will cost you in excess of £30! ...and low and behold they STILL dont know how to make a Vodka lime and Soda????
I almost got slammed against the wall by a beef headed bouncer because he couldnt see my wrist band, even though I held up my arm displaying it, the lighting was to low so he couldnt see it, shouldnt be my problem?
boycott this place!

Went to see Circus of Horrors yesterday (Friday 28th November) which was a nice slice of pre-christmas anarcho-gothic gore in south east london. No complaints about the show at all. Highly recommended. However the venue was really cold, with most of the audience sat with their coats, hats and scraves on throughout the duration of the show. No attempt was made to explain why the auditorium was so cold and no attempt was made to turn the heating on.

The staffing also needs to be addressed. One very rude and incompetent box office staffer didn't know the entitlements of VIP tickets holders and had to be challenged twice, the second time with the intervention of a senior member of staff (whom she disputed), before providing wrist bands for the after-show party. Really no need for that kind of attitude at all. Staff should be properly briefed. If they are not sure, they shouldn't treat paying members of the public with contempt, particularly when they are merely asking for what they have paid for. Ask your supervisor.

Beware. Drinks are exorbitantly priced. I paid £30 for 4 alcoholic drinks and 2 small bottles of water. A complete rip-off. Also not a good idea to put a completely new (unsupervised) member of staff in the bar, who doesn't know how to make a vodka, lime and lemonade (small clue its in the title). Let's hope these things are addressed constructively and improved. Not a difficult thing to get right? Other than that (!) a great show with a great bunch of people.
