this venue has just opened after over a year of being closed, thank god it wasnt changed into flats it has been sorely missed. Remarkable restaurants now hve it an it has been refurbed in their unmistakable style sympathetically restoring it to its former grandeur the inside is heavy on the wood with pew seating and a beautiful back bar with black and white marble flooring, etched glass and mirrors surround you and the back room with the large sky light is stunning.
we ate here on sunday a change for us as we usually go the the old dairy round the corner, the food was really good (pork belly rocked) and reasonably priced, the staff were attentive if a little shy but after chatting to them i did find out the most of them were quite new to pulling pints so good on them.
the manager has come from Youngs stock so is well equipped to cope and her partner in the kitchen has been a head chef for many years- things look positive for the shaftesbury tavern and im so pleased we have a new local in the area,i will be telling all of my friends
