All In London Review
A pub transformed with a solid menu, DJs at weekends and a bizarre pool table
Home to a huge amount of space, the Adam and Eve on Homerton High Street remains an authentic looking pub in the heavy dark wood/horseshoe bar/pool table mould. Yes, the pool table is far from the classic shape but still…
On the Friday night that we visit the place is busy and yet it feels two-thirds full. That’s because it is split up into four different sections – including covered outdoor space – that have the size to be pubs all on their own. DJs are set up in front of the bar and the mix of soul and hip-hop blaring out is very good indeed. We drink Samuel Adams draught and watch as burgers and pies are consumed around us. The changing menu offers fresh produce turned into simple, appealing dishes. Happy Hour isn’t a huge thing in pubs but between 4pm and 8pm, Monday to Friday, the Adam and Eve serves a selection of £3 drinks to make you smile.
That gentrification ‘bit’ was all for fun, the crowd here is nothing like as one-dimensional as some pubs you might find on Upper Clapton Road these days. There is a happy mixture of ages and while a group creates a makeshift dance floor in front of the DJs there are others just as happy to nurse pints at dimly lit tables as it all passes them by.
A pub with genuine prospects and one you certainly shouldn’t think twice about visiting.

Not to be overlooked. This grand pub has been tastefully refurbished and boasts a particularly great outdoor area. Every time I've been in there's always a warm atmosphere with a good mix of people. The food is simple, tasty and reasonably priced - I'd particularly recommend the cod cheeks. All in all definitely worth a visit
