Once a palace, previously a prison and now a gorgeous destination venue, Voltaire has it all: the capital’s largest collection of Pommery champagne, an incredible al fresco cigar terrace and, spearheading it all, a series of vault rooms that set new standards in hospitality.
Historically used to store the treasures of the former bank above, the building’s old stone vaults have now been converted into a unique series of spaces, The Vaults at Voltaire.
Adjacent to The Vaults is Voltaire’s impressive champagne bar, an equally seductive space inspired by the colours and sensuality of caviar, champagne and cigars.
Here guests can enjoy the capital’s most comprehensive selection of Pommery, the legendary champagne house, which today, produces what many wine writers regard as the world’s finest bubbly.
Voltaire also offers an imaginative and extensive cocktail list, many of them Pommery based, including the signature Cherry Picked (Pommery, cherry brandy, Visciolata, homemade basil syrup), Pomme-Colada (Pommery, Coco Canu, pineapple, fresh lemon) and The Pommery Bar (Gin Mare, Pommery, strawberry liqueur, mint, tobacco syrup), a sharing cocktail for eight.
The best venues for enjoying a cigar
How times have changed – the stone vaults at Voltaire where once prison cells where inmates were kept, but now they are VIP booths with personal waiters where you can even plug your own iPod in. There’s a wide selection of Cuban and non-Cuban cigars which can be smoked in the garden, and you can join their cigar club for perks and discounts.
