The Adelaide is a trendy bar that attracts many young Antipodes. They serve Thai food as well as a selection of beers, wines and spirits. They also have a beer garden. Catering for private parties is also available upon request as is the use of a private function room.

We hired the Adelaide for a birthday party and couldn't have been more pleased with the great time everyone had.

At first, we thought we wanted something more central to the West End, but when we saw the venue and the facilities on offer made it a 'no-brainer'. The massive garden was soon full of friends and family enjoying themselves. The staff soon became our friends and and their professional, but laid-back attitude only added to make the day special.

We would have no hesitation in recommending The Adelaide - in fact, two of our guests have already booked for their birthdays!

Great value, great staff and great facilities.

The Adelaide is a nice place for an event, but you should go in with your eyes open. It is important to take into account the likelihood of having to cover part of your minimum spend in your budgeting. The venue is a little bit out of people’s way, and this reduced the numbers we were expecting. We did not meet our minimum spend, and were told “that this happens all the time”.

We were also surprised at the state of the venue. The building is old and “is soon to be knocked down”. The stairs down to the kitchen were pitch dark with minimal lighting from candles. Whilst we could use the kitchen, appliances were leaking and we continually had to mop up as we worked down there. We were told that this had been a problem “for a while”.

In fact, when we made the complaints above, these were initially met with aggression. Eventually both were worked out amicably, but not before quite a degree of resistance on the venue’s side.

Overall, it was probably a mistake for us to go to the Adelaide. We wanted to flag these issues so that others think through whether it’s the right venue for them.

The Adelaide is now just a private hire venue.

I went to a party there about a month ago. I had such a good time, the venue is lovely. I love the Moroccan theme downstairs!! Upstairs there is a big space, that was really good for the disco. There is also a fantastic garden. We all had a great time, the staff seemed nice too. My friends are having an engagement party at The Adelaide in November, I look forward to it!

A vastly underestimated pub, the Adelaide's got it all: Great atmosphere, cracking bar staff, good range, superb food, and just to top it off, a heated and spacious beer garden.

Thanks to its location, I've never seen it too rammed, and clientel are a friendly bunch too. From Sunday afternoon chill with the papers to live nights and DJs, this landlord's doing a rip-roaring job...

...if I didn't have to work, I'd be applying for residency.
