Definitely another west end club whose door policy has got a bit of an "attitude"! We didn't really have any trouble getting in but the door staff are definitely quite brisk and they were a bit sniffy with a few of the others in the queue.
Once you're in though, it's a cool place with a surprisingly mixed crowd - different ages, some locals and tourists too.
We had a good night! Which I guess is the main thing a club needs to do well!
Maddox Club is the new addition to Mayfair, set to rival all of London’s hot spots of the moment. Renowned club owner, Fred Moss, will open Maddox Club in March/April 2007. Fred is responsible for London’s most successful nightclubs over the last 15 years including Iceni, Chinawhite, Aura and more recently Mo*vida.
Set in the heart of London’s Mayfair, Maddox will play on the true meaning of its name by appealing to those who appreciate the finer things in life and those who know where the best parties are to be found. Samy Chams, whose breath-taking interior design portfolio includes Diepp in Morocco, Sass Café in Monaco, Opium in Belgrade and Oasis Club Hamamet in Tunisia, is responsible for the design at Maddox. The feel of the design is slick, minimalist and modern. A staircase encased in glass divides the two main floors of Maddox, at the centre of which is the stunningly designed DJ booth.
There will be a bar area on the ground floor offering an impressive cocktail list where guests can gather at the bar, sit with friends and dance when the mood takes them. The second bar area is located on the lower ground floor offering table service only. The jewel in the crown at Maddox Club is The Courtyard which will come into its own in the summer months. The Courtyard is a beautiful outdoor area located on the lower ground floor where guests can visit either for just a breath of fresh air or to while away the evening chatting, sipping on cocktails and gazing at the stars.
Maddox Club guests will also be able to dine on Italian cuisine in the restaurant. The Maddox dining experience will be informal offering a delicious yet simple Italian menu. Yet another highlight to set Maddox Club apart from the rest, is the al fresco dining area on The Terrace providing an oasis for London’s night owls and of course, the London smokers.
Also worthy of note is George Calisto, formerly General Manager at Montes, Library Bar at The Lanesborough and most recently Cuckoo Club, who will bring his experience and expertise to ensure that every night at Maddox is one of perfection.
