About Crystal Palace National Sports Centre
South London’s National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace was opened in 1964. The large sports centre’s athletics stadium has a capacity of 15,500 (which can be increased to up to 24,000 where necessary). Apart from the main arena and the sports halls, it offers and an athletics track, a 50 m swimming pool, a diving pool, several multi sports rooms and a dance studio. The centre used to be one of Sport England’s five National Sports Centres. Today it is is managed by Greenwich Leisure Limited and is housed in a Grade II listed building hosting international athletics and swimming events. The sports centre also offers facilities for London's Olympians-in-training, as well as for those involved in indoor sports such as squash, basketball, volleyball, karate, climbing, netball, hockey, badminton and gymnastics.
