The despatcher can confirm a price with you when you call and then just before the trip call you and raise the price. If you don’t accept they cancel your ride and you are left with nothing
Don’t use. These are new manipulative tactics
Happened to me a few times with a express

I would highly recommend this service.. The drivers are extremely patient, polite and friendly. The cars are always clean.. I have used them on many occasions, in particular, for hospital runs or school pick ups in the cold weather. The drivers are very caring and are always on time.... Also I received a SMS when the driver was outside my flat... Very useful... If you are looking for a cab I would really advise you to try them.

I used "S Express" (7 Vivian Avenue) again (they also seem to be listed under the name Airport Express on some web sites.

I used them for a local trip when our car broke down outside their offices.
They were obliging, reasonably soon arriving, courteous, got us to our destination in good time. Charge was reasonable. I would use them again.

Highly recommended! I used them three times in Hendon on recent trip from the North, and each time they were most helpful, reliable (arriving when requested, even a bit earlier) and texted/called on arrival. Only downside is lack of a meter - unless you ask, you won't know how much you'll pay at the end - not a major problem in the event, as I thought the prices for the local trips were OK for London.
