the service of this company is apualing! i hired a car last summer and was involved in a accident, months later i was contacted by a police officer informing me i was not under the insurance for the car ! considering i had payed for the insurance which was in the policy !! is the company still open ? has this happend to anyone before?

The most useless hire company I have ever encountered, the appalling vehicle was only matched by the complete incompetence of the staff. The helpline simply connects you to the Battersea office and to someone with zero customer service abilities. The van hired was ropey at best and that's aside from the cosmetics. I refused to take the vehicle and asked for a refund. When one was not forthcoming I phoned the helpline to speak to the same incompetent person stood in front of me. As stated on another post I eventually got a refund without any apology. I run a building firm and simply needed a cheap affordable vehicle for half a days work. Useless, useless company. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely apalling.

I turned up and got abismal service. Waited 45 minutes for my van in which time the man who was meant to be getting it for me kept on coming in and out of the office apparently unable to start the van. He kept on trying different sets of keys.

I wasn't offered any advice as to what was going on.

After about 45 minutes I gave up and asked for my money back. He SLOWLY counted it out and didn't say anything. No sorry. No nothing.

It's a horrible office down a dark alley with rubbish service. DO NOT GO THERE

I agree with the above customer. I have used Best Hire several times and will continue to do so, because they are excellent value. I have only hired vans, so looks do not matter. For straight forward good value, they do "what they say on the tin".

If you expect an ultra clean, dent free saloon for wooing the girl of your dreams, this is not the place for you. If, however, you want a slightly beaten up car that will get you from A to B, then it's fine.

The prices are very competetive but for a reason! I've hired from them several times and will continue to do so but with each car the engine has been a bit knackered, warning lights randomly come on, a few fittings have been missing and generally they've all been thrashed. BUT they do get you where you want to go. Somehow!

Recommended for cheapness and convenience but certainly not for glamour.
