David Mitchell Picture Framers

I have used Mitchell about 12 times now. Always had good service and the work has been great. Prices are quite fair as well. A bit of a trot for me but well worth it. I have another two to sort with them now

This is a great value and very proficient business, as seen by the queues when you go there of customers collecting and submitting pictures to be framed. Very highly recommended.

Over many years ( 20+) we have been taking pictures to David Mitchell to be reframed , remounted , restored etc etc . Their reasonable prices attracted us to start with , but we soon realised that we were being offered exceptional service and value for money . We now live the other side of London , but still make the pilgrimage to the little shop on Loampit Vale . If there have ever been any issues to be resolved they have always been most willing to correct them - though honestly there have been very few mistakes ! They do go 'that extra mile' and are always so obliging and courteous . Being so popular , expect to wait a while to be served !

I have had I guess six pictures done here over the years and never had any faults in the framing. I did hear some moaning about fitting a drawing to its mount from a female voice round the corner but it was Christmas and she was probably overworked. There has never been a problem with strange subject matter or size though I would judge they are set up more for small than large heavy pictures though they do those too. The father is the most welcoming but they all know what they are doing and try to get you to decide what you want.

For professional artists best to be avoided. Lack of attention to detail: mount cut wrongly and didn’t manage to get corrected. Glass had dirt inside which was cleaned at my request.

I recently took 2 pictures to be framed on 10th August 2017

1. 10th aug took 2 pictures in to be framed
2. 19th aug went to collect , told mount had been cut wrong ?
3. 21st aug went again to collect pictures and paid , got them home and found dust or object behind glass (their****up) ,sealed up on both pictures and one picture mitres on corners not flush
4. 22nd aug , I took 1 picture back to get dust out behind glass and correct mitres, should have taken 2nd picture to get dust out from behind glass, but I was so fed up with them
5. 26th aug , I went again to collect corrected picture

It took 5 journeys to this little shop on Loampit hill in Lewisham to get 2 pictures framed, should have taken 2 journeys,and whilst they are a nice family running it, they are not organised at all, there is a different member of the family every time I went and had to explain to every one why I was there and point out their mistakes.

I have just had two illustrations framed here - the staff pleasant to talk to and prepared to discuss all framing requirements from centring pictures to type of glass as well as the type of frame. I don't do this often enough for comparisons but found the service very good and prompt and will certainly use them again.
