If I could have given 0 stars, I would have done. I have used the Paint House in the past and found them helpful and willing to give advice - this is the reason to use a local independent in my view. However on my recent trip I was basically ignored - a promise that someone would come and help me when the second member of staff came in was trumped by a desire for the two staff members to talk about non-business related topics. I was then asked to make way for someone who had an appointment and only as an afterthought did they ask if I wanted to place an order. I was left feeling unsupported and, in the view of their staff, completely irrelevant. A shame for the owner given I have a whole house to refurb.

Just had my curtains made here and am v satisfied. I had help with choosing my fabric and the service was far better than I'd experienced elsewhere - guess it's worth paying the extra for such a good personal service. Will use again.

I visited this shop for the first time in a long time last week. They must have done a refurb as it's bigger and there is much more room to move around. Staff were friendly and there was a nice atmosphere - much nicer than when I was last there. Staff very knowledgable when i asked about wallpaper and fabric. I will be back again.

I was truly appalled at how I was treated here. I went in to pick up items I had bought and to look over fabrics. I have never been so rudely treated in my life. First, the woman who had started to help me was asked loudly over my head if she wanted to go to lunch and promptly just left us without even a word (like good-bye, this is my colleague to help) then they could not find my order (which they had rung me to collect) needless to say I will NEVER return or recommend- I should have just bought everything at peter jones where the staff and owners don't think they are better than you.

Staff are so rude, they can barely look up from what they are doing to acknowledge you have even entered the store. If you ask for help, they seemed oddly annoyed by this. Some lovely things to purchase, shame about the staff.

Have nothing but nice things to day about paint house - bought some cushions there last week - staff were very friendly, but had to return the cushions as they didn't quite work in my lounge (clashing colours!) -when I returned the cushions the girl was very helpful and showed me others that were perfect- very happy customer.

They really need to improve customer service.

Yes they stock some very nice stuff and they are convenient to some but would I prefer to be spoken to nicely and not ignored by a rather rude 'saturday girl' type who would rather be anywhere else? they don't know their stock - fair enough but they could be polite and try to help/ offer to find out more.

Sorry but snotty people, I will shop elsewhere unless desperate.

I have to admit to being more than a little surprised at the feedback from other reviewers. I have always found the staff quite accommodating.

This is a great little shop, granted they don't do a lot of basic paint supplies but then that's not really what they are for. If you want to order exotic hand printed wall paper or get a selection of custom mixed paint then it's worth a visit.

They also stock select furniture, light fittings and room finishings (door handles etc).

Whilst I agree no customer should have to wait, I personally have only ever experienced a very high level of service at The Painthouse and, as a result, am a regular customer who recommends them highly. The assistance I have experienced is 2nd to none - name me another place locally where you can walk in and get full and free advice from trained interior designers. Brewers may have a license to make up Zoffany Paints but they don't offer a full interior design service. It's not just a "paint shop". There is also a shop stuffed full of beautiful things for the home. Go on, give it a 2nd g

I went to the Painthouse to buy Zoffany paint because Brewers (Putney) was closed on Sunday.

The Painthouse website said they stocked Zoffany paint, however when I got to the Painthouse I was told that they don't stock tins of paint, they only stock the tester pots. The tins of paint have to be ordered in.
When I explained that Brewers mix Zoffany paint on site (I usually buy it there) the sales assistant was incredulous and insisted that this couldn't be the case!

Altogether a waste of time. Not sure why they call themselves the Paint House when they order it in.

I have been in to the Paint House on a couple of occasions and whilst the display and contents of the shop are good, the quality of service could be drastically improved. On every occasion that I have been, I have been ignored by the staff as they carry on their own conversations. This was particularly bad last week as two of the younger members of staff were more interested in discussing their tattoos! It has taken effort on my part to even get them to acknowledge me being there. This is very frustrating and completely put me off from giving them my custom. I will be trying elsewhere!
