A wide variety of fresh breads and fillings and friendly staff (especially the tall 'manager'?) willing to accommodate any particular taste make this a pleasurable, competitively priced alternative to the standard fare from chains like Pret A Manger, M&S and Eat.
Sandwiches, salads and soups hand made with a real sense of care, professionalism and personalisation. Salt beef better than local sandwich shops supposedly specialising in it. Hot melts exquisite. There's no real direct comparison so it's a shame not enough people appear to know of its location, despite being established for over 15 years, &/or its superior quality (compared for example to Spianata, Earls or Birleys etc).
The facade isn't particularly welcoming and it sometimes appears overcrowded when it is busy but it's certainly worth the wait.

While everyone else was blindly queuing for their run-of-the-mill chain shop sandwiches e.g. EAT, Pret-a-Manger etc.. I found old fashioned Jonathan's freshly hand cut sandwiches tucked away down Cullum St. near Leadenhall Market. The generously filled Salt Beef sandwiches are my big weakness. I don't know why I'm placing this review as I like to smugly think of this as my secret. Go get your chain food. M.
