I got burgers and sausages a year ago for my bbq. My friends are still talking about how good they were definitely the nicest meat I had since moving to London. Proper quality, no shrinkage or added water like supermarkets!

What a pleasure to find this butchery *****
The most amazing butchery with customer service second to none. Daniel, George and Harry go out of their way to ensure that each customer is happy and are on a first name basis with most of their clients.
As a South African I can really recommend their Boerewors and Biltong and say that the quality of the meat is excellent and very hard to match.
Will always be buying my meat here going forward.

An absolutely fantastic Butchers, i have been a regular customer for over 10 years, the customer service is second to none and their knowledge of their product is as vast as the Everglades.
i would note that during December the busiest period of the year and these guys have no time off in this month, keep this in mind when writing reviews.
One of the best butchers in London and no meat is off the menu, you order it they will source it for you.

I have been shopping here for 2 years &would not go anywhere else now. The prices are similar to a supermarket but the quality is better than even the best waitrose meat. Their selection of steaks is a favourite and there is a wide variety of sausages and other meat. Plus every day they have ready made stuffed chicken and other things that can just be put in the oven. They also take orders for beef wellington and salmon en croute. The meat is the best quality and very fresh, if they don't have something they can order it in the next day.

Yes the meat is great, but after requesting a specific joint weight, I was completely ignored and a piece nearly twice what I has asked for was cut.
At the time the shop was full and I was too embarrassed to complain. It's a nasty trick to pull (lots of butchers try it) and I won't be visiting again.

There is nothing negative you can say about this butcher, even the prices are competitive to supermarkets. For the negative comment below to be here shows someone completely spoilt and who must find normal life really difficult as for John Charles Village Butchers to be rude has to be as rare a white Christmas.

Superb quality meats and very friendly service every time I've been there. In particular, the matured rump and sirloin beef steaks and lamb rib cuts have been so consistently excellent, I'd recommend them above, say, the similarly excellent meat counter at Waitrose Canary Wharf. Also noteworthy is their skills at making authentic boerewors, which rivals the very best you could find in South Africa itself.

Hello, I tried to order some meat over the phone after discussing my complicated order as needed quite a few things, I was told that there is no more time that they can spend taking the order because they are very busy having four people in a shop. I felt they were quite rude to me. Said that I need to come to the shop and order and they are VERY busy. Not impressed with the service at all especially being their local customer.

I have been shopping from John Charles for about 2 years now. I mostly buy beef and beef mince. They apparently supply from a good Scottish farmer. The beef is always decent, much better than what you get in the supermarkets. And the team always friendly. A great local shop to be proud of!

Great butchers. Delicious meat and friendly service. Try the chickens - I've never tasted better!
