"Greek deli a welcome find for Baker Street workers"Review Rating: Reviewed by Leila
This charming little Greek deli just round the corner from Baker Street offers freshly prepared food to take away, however customers can also eat in thanks to large wooden benches which are casually scattered with Greek cook books for the customer’s perusal.
The shelves are enticingly lined with jars of Greek olives, bread sticks, preserves, coffee, halloumi and even ‘traditional’ chewing gum.
The food on offer at the counter is what one would expect from a Greek deli: dolmades, gigante beans in tomato sauce, fava bean puree, freshly made hummus, meat balls, and lentil salad. Sandwiches can be made freshly to order, and there are coffees, teas and a selection of soft drinks.
The pastitsio, or the Greek version of lasagne, contains layers of macaroni-shaped pasta, mincemeat and creamy béchamel sauce. It’s filling and tasty, with crispy melted cheese over the top. The spanakorizo is a spinach and rice dish where the two main ingredients are cooked together with lemon juice, giving it a zesty flavour.
Food Filosophy provides something a little different to the standard array of sandwiches and other lunchtime foods in the area. A welcome find for those tired of Tesco Finest.
