Sainsbury's

I did have a problem today. I work at Westminster City Council which i right next door to the store. I went in during my lunch break to buy a bottle of wine for me and my wife this evening. There was a queue, as there often is at circa 1.00-2.00 but there are sections where you can get through very quickly. Unfortunately I misread a situation and went to a checkout before the lady in front had finished. The teller told me, rather too sharply I thought, that she had not finished yet which was fair enough. I waited my turn and when it came I gave her thge bottle of wine and inserted my card into the reader. She then said 'I haven't scanned it yet' and then mumbled something which I did not catch. I waited and she called to a colleague, who did not come. After quite a while she said 'I am not serving you because I think you have been drinking' I said, well why didn't you tell me before so we didn't have to hold the queue up. She said 'well if you leave, I can', so of course I left. The whole thing was quite embarrasing. I am autistic, (high functioning), and sometimes my manners, demeanour etc can appear odd. It doesn't mean I have been drinking. I had only just left work at lunchtime for heavens sake. Also her yawning as I waited was not something I much appreciated. I know it cannot be the best job in the world as a teller in Sainsburys and no doubt she is a very busy woman, probably with kids, etc so I don't feel that bad towards her. nevertheless that store is normally excellent and the staff so pleasant and it knocked me a bit to be treated like that. What if some of my colleagues had overheard the exchange. I would have seemed a 'drinker' at work and I could not live that down.
