I have use D/Clulow stores for a number of years, and spent many £000s.

My first visit to this branch, as my local one is not yet open again.

Never, ever again, these are the rudest and laziest staff I have seen working for this company, maybe the location gives them an unending stream of business, so will not put any effort in, or think they are special perhaps but they will never have mine again.

Completely incompetent staff, each person had a different view on the types of glass (reduction index and tint combinations). Most of the information I was given was actually incorrect. I have been waiting for over a month to get my glass fitted in my frame in a satisfactory way. Communication is poor, their promises to call me have mostly been unfulfilled. They also struggle to track the order and the status with the lab. It's a complete chaos. Worst customer experience I ever had with any company in my life.

I've just been to this optician today for a contact lens check and had a horrible experience. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone!

The optician recommended that I change the type of my lenses but I explained that I would rather not change them straight away (for my own reasons which I did't feel I had to explain to her) and maybe later on in about 6 months time I would. Immediately after I said that her behaviour changed to constantly being rude at whatever I was saying, she was mocking me "politely" and kept pointing out that I didn't care for my eyesight.

This was actually the second time I've been to them (and definitely the last!) and both times they failed to actually spend any time to go through how things work and what to expect in terms of the process and the costs. They just try to spent as little time with each client as possible to get the next one in! Oh, and both times they were running late in their appointments.

Also be aware that as other reviewers have pointed out, their prices are outrageous. I got a quote for getting my spectacles reglased for £260 which in the end I got done elsewhere for £98 for exactly the same type of lenses! And today when I asked them for the price of 6 months supply of contact lenses they gave me a price of £266 but I've been getting them from an online store for around £50.

So better avoid them and don't let them ruin your Saturday morning!

I always wonder why patients come to us, and after advising them to update their spx (for reasons we would explain, ie best for their eyesight, to prevent eyestrain etc) they take it as a personal attack.

The reason you come to us is to assess your eye health and prescription. If you chose not to explain to the optician why you didn't want to update your spx "for your own reasons" how was she to be able to understand that a patient wants to happily wear a prescription that is not ideal for them. Not even i would be able to understand that being an optician and caring for the best for my patients eye health.

Also i would like to make you aware, prescriptions can change in 6 months, so you should have probably wait until you were ready to update your glasses so you would have the best prescription before going for the eye test, unless you were having other problems.

You are a consumer and entitled to looking around. But you have to remember luxury brands come with luxury prices. We can't complain just because we cannot afford something we need.

It depends on what you want, it's like buying a rolls Royce to a Toyota, they both o the same function, but luxury demands a price.

I am appalled by my experience at David Clulow - Canary Wharf/Cabot Square. They agreed to price-match a pair of prescription glasses for me that i had seen online, that included thinned lenses. When I took delivery, i thought the lenses looked rather thick but didn't think for a minute that supposed healthcare professionals would dare to pull a fast one on me so didn't wish to embarrass them by challenging them about it. Big mistake.

When a friend later pointed out to me that the lenses were bog-standard rather than the thinned lenses I had PAID for, the unhelpful staff at David Clulow refused to replace the lenses, or give a refund, or apologise or even acknowledge any problem, citing 'time elapsed'. I have given them numerous opportunities to put this problem right, but their 'customer services' staff are incredibly stubborn and unhelpful. Rather than simply give me what I paid them for and apologise, they stick to their guns, giving me no choice but to leave this negative review and many others like it on the internet to warn others.

I spend about £500 a year on eyewear but neither me nor any of my friends or relatives will ever be shopping there again. Count the cost David - was it worth it? I recommend that you do not under any circumstances use this shop, or any other branch of David Clulow. Look at other reviews, there have been plenty of other bad experiences. And the prices they quote are outrageous, they really try it on with outrageous mark-ups. There are plenty of good opticians on the high street and online. Give these cowboys a wide berth.

I would not recommend this store to anyone. I spent about £800 on new frames and lenses. When the glasses were ready, the frames did not fit on my face well and I had them adjusted in the store but within a few hours they were falling off my nose. I went back for a readjustment. Unfortunately a few hours later they got loose again. I went back to the store to ask what can be done about it as after spending all this money I cannot actually wear my glasses out the house since they keep falling off my nose every time I bend to pick to something. The answer? "Sorry madam. There is nothing we can do about it. Plastic frames tend to do that". In addition to offering no solution to the problem, the individual I talked to had a terrible, sneering attitude towards me. I have been wearing glasses with plastic frames for the last 23 years and I never had this problem so bad. Their service is zero and there are no terms and conditions of purchase to be found for defective products. £800 down the drain..
