I could write a whole book on the horrific experience with them, but here is a small sample.

* Had to call them in emergency one night. No answer of "out of hours emergency line" until midday naxt day. Their excuse: "The phone signal doesn't work sometimes in Bethnal Green.

* They claim to do reference checks (and take money for the same) yet clearly don't. One guy would hide all his dirty plates and pans in cupboards rather than wash. Another filled the bathroom bin full of used loo roll full of poo, and three empty toilet rolls all over the floor.

* "Cleaning lady" was useless if she would ever turn up. Then she would just empty everything out of the cupboards and put everyone's stuff back all mixed up together in some weird order. Upon complaining (which btw they rarely listen to) was just told "keep your food in your room then!

* Broken oven not fixed for 3 months. Their handyman (!) had looked at it and declared it ok. "If you need another opinion you will pay". The damn thing was not heating up at all. Suggested to me to "send them photographs of how I'm turning it in"

* Removed all doors and replaced with "fire doors". Were not fire doors at all - big gaps underneath. Lock wouldn't work on one of these doors - their solution was to bash it open with a hammer, leaving badly damaged door frame with big holes to see through

* Drilled random big hole in bedroom wall for no reason whatsoever.

* Letting themselves in and out of property with no warning.

* Moving randoms in with no warning, at height of Covid.

* EXCEPTIONALLY rude and unprofessional management, who act like they're doing you a favour whilst overcharging you to live in a slum whilst they give you abuse.

So much more but that's just a taster.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
Don't believe a single word they say before signing a contract with them. We asked for a 2-months contract, their agent told us that the minimum was 6 months, and then he misleaded us into signing a 1-year contract saying it was "more flexible", which was all a bunch of lies since we met other tenants with 2 and 3-months contracts during the following months, and we still don't know what the "flexibility" was about. They just want people to sign long-term contracts to take money from them if they're forced to leave the property earlier, like what happened to us after the Coronavirus. We lost our jobs because of the lockdown, we had to leave the country to go back home, and they forced us to give them 2000£+ pounds. When I went to the office and talked to the manager about the lack of transparency of their agent, he essentially told me "The contract is signed, so there's nothing to discuss about it". Honestly, making money over people who lost their jobs because of a global pandemic that affected EVERYONE is disgusting.
Talking about the apartment itself, when we arrived we found it dirty, with several stains on the carpet, and also with several maintenance issues (broken window locks, broken drawer inside the freezer with a sharp edge, an exposed electric socket and more), I've reported everything to them, some of these issues were fixed, but some of them have never been fixed in 9 months of tenancy.
I wouldn't recommend this agency to ANYONE. The level of lies and unprofessionalism: far too much.

Worst room rental experience ever . And I hope my review will prevent people from renting through City rooms. What you see advertised (on facebook pages and on their website) is one whole misrepresentation and reflects misleading information. Also, the information that they have given me on the phone about the property (e.g a large beautiful kitchen, no disrepair, number of occupiers, only single occupancy allowed in each bedroom, free cleaning service) were all lies. I never moved into the property due to the health and safety issues this has, the anti-hygienic status and the ridiculous number of occupiers sharing the same house). This Company is a joke.

Definitely for me having Cityrooms as my agency worked very well. They are very active and responsive.

I recommend them.

It seems like that from the landlords POV the service is great. And for the Pre-sales from the tenants POV the service is okay. The problem is that post-sales the service is awful. Once the contract is signed, these paying customers are not looked after. They are charged for services not provided (e.g. cleaning). Emails go unanswered. Information is lost.
