I have been using them for a few years now and can safely say they are the best agent i have used in my 30 years in the property industry.

Pure class!

DON’T USE THEM!
I called David St James to rent a flat. Once I saw the flat, the first think they did was asked for was 500 pounds in order to pass the offer on to the owner. DON’T PAY THEM!
They also made me sign a contract, of which they didn’t give me a copy. When they send it to me 2 days later, they had added conditions I had never signed (increasing my offer).
From there on everything was a nightmare. They took over 2 weeks to pass on my offer to the Landlord, they never picked up the phone nor answered back emails. I couldn’t do anything as they had my money.
After 3 weeks they came back to me saying “the owner was accepting my offer” and I had to pay them around 3500 pounds (6 weeks deposit + 1 month rent). As I already doubted them, I asked them to confirm the details in writing (by email), something they tried to avoid at all cost. Once I got them to send an email, the email content wasn’t the same that they had told me by phone (it was their “revised” higher offer).
I told them that I deemed the contract aborted and that I wanted my money back. It has taken me over 4 months to get it back. Once again, NEVER USE THEM.
If you are so unlucky to have used them, this is what I recommend you to do:
1. Have everything in writing, don´t trust telephone conversations!
2. The email you have to write to in order to get your money back is the Account Department. ([email protected]) Send the email with receipt return notice, or they will argue you they never received it.
3. Go to the “Small Claims Court” and sue them. This is the most important thing to do and the only way of getting your money back (it costs around 35 pounds).
Only after I sued them, and persisted with the claim, they offered to pay my money back.
There are a lot of flats in London to be dealing with these kind of people.
I WOULDN’T USE THEM.

I wish I had read some of the reviews of this company before using them. I have never come across less professional estate agents in my life. They stole my deposit and were generally rude and unhelpful. To any prospective tenants I would advise that you avoid them at all costs.
Have your say
