One word rude I would not go to this shop ever again after how the shop assistant treated me I would stand outside and tell everyone to shop somewhere else

I recently bought a Whyte Portobello from Apex, the service was excellent, helpful and friendly from beginning to end. Prior to buying I went to other bike stores but did not feel I got the same level of service and expertise. As soon as I walked into Apex they reassured me about the size and type of bike I should go for. I would definitely recommend.

I recently bought a Specialized Hybrid here. Quality of service was far better than the other wandsworth area bike stores i tried, with a lot of well- informed input but no hard- sell. If my purchase had been simply driven by the type of bike, I would probably have bought a Boardman from Halfords ( yes, I know, not where anyone wants to spend their hard-earned cash......) but what swayed my decision was simply the staff. I'd add that having done the usual web trawling they are also price competitive - so worth a visit rather than going to one of the chains.

Twice now I've walked in off the street (at the weekend) with tough repair problems I could not crack myself (I'm reasonably proficient with a spanner). Both times they came to my rescue then and there, and also let me watch and gave me some good tips. Superb service, and hugely appreciated. Just what I want in an LBS. Thanks guys.

Rang for a service and found them rude and abrasive.
As I live very close have used them a couple of times before. Thought was merely "london prices" but since using other shops have realised how over-priced they actually are and this is lovingly coupled with a complete disregard for customer service.

As other reviews have pointed out the staff are impolite, unhelpful know-it-alls who talk down to you.

Now cycle the extra mile or two to use other bike shops in the area.

Awful.

I bought my bike from Apex Cycles several years ago and return regularly for maintenance work, spares and repairs. Why? Because I'm treated with respect, Apex offers great value for money and the guys in the shop are a pleasure to do business with.

I've used them twice now and really want to like the service but unfortunately I've come away disappointed both times. the first time was to have my disc brakes looked at and improved id possible as they were rubbing the disc when riding. Unfortunately the staff treat you a bit like you know nothing and that you're inconveniencing them to have your bike fixed!.... The second time was to have a simple spoke replaced and wheel trued. Upon returning to pick the bike up I find that they have put a silver spoke in an all black bike...(black spokes, black frame, black seat..everything..) To be

A little overpriced and poor customer service, I had to wait quite a while to get my bike repaired, then had the same problem 2 weeks later. I took it back and the repairs were done by someone else who seemed much more compentant.

Took my bike for a service here last week and asked them to pay particular attention to the gear change which I was struggling with on the set up. They spent a long time on this, even contacting the manufacturer to feedback their findings. When I returned to collect to bike, we spent 30 minutes running through their findings in detail. Considering the amount of effort that had gone into this service, I was extremely happy with the price and the attention given to trying to make it perfect. It is refreshing these days to go to a shop and be given such a high level of service with good value for money

Just bought an awesome new Marin bike from here. Staff were honest and even talked me out of buying stuff I didn't really need! Trust is everything to me and this made all the difference. So much better than Evans where the staff just ignored me and are grossly overpriced.

The guys even fitted my light brackets that I bought elsewhere. Simon (who served me) is a funny and extremely helpful chap.

Very happy punter.

Having cycled competitively and recreationally for 25 plus years you get to know the 'feel' of a bike shop, Apex has a good one, friendly, informative and knowledgeable.

Everything from tweaking my bike on a way to a race (No charge!) to ordering and supplying fiddly Brompton spares to a guided tour of chains, cassettes and when to replace.

Recommended.

Not sure what store the rather arrogant poster above visited but I have always found Apex cycles to offer the most helpful service imaginable. I've never had to wait or even book my bike in for a service as they've always tried (where possible) to fit me in. There also can't be many stores that actually allow you to test ride a bike round the block with no supervision. Or tell you to come back if you have any further problems. If you just want a teenager to fit pre-bought parts on your bike then by all means go to Halfords or Evans. But if you want guys who know what they're doing Apex is a good choice. The staff here are knowledgeable and friendly, and you get the distinct impression they really know and use their bikes. Thoroughly recommended.

I was very impressed by the advice, friendliness and the prices at this store, when buying a new bike and a lot of accessories. My cycling gear was in Australia so I needed to buy just about everything and spent a good bit of time in the store and spoke with most of the staff. They were very honest in their advice and several times assured me a cheaper option was sufficient or that I didn't need certain things. I compared all their prices and they were all competitive. All of the advice and equipment has turned out to be good.

The members of staff here suffer from the all too prevalent arrogance that many local bike store staff appear to exhibit. Because bike purchasing and particularly maintenance is a technical subject, they believe their knowledge is vastly superior to any customer who might walk in the door. Each customer is therefore treated with the same condescending manner as if you’re there to bother them rather than provide them with business. It might just about be tolerable if the staff at Apex actually were the experts they believe themselves to be but sadly I found them lacking.

I wanted to get my road bike serviced and brought some of the parts that I wanted fitted because a) they didn’t stock them and b) I could find them cheaper and get them faster elsewhere. They didn’t like this one bit and proceeded to tell me that they would have to charge extra for the service (already priced at £60 excluding parts) because I was supplying the parts myself. I asked them to explain why and they proceeded to tell me - without even the mere hint of embarrassment - that they would lose out on the extra premium they charge on the parts. So be warned: the charge to service a bike at Apex is only that price if they can supply you with all the parts and charge you extra. So much for building good returning-customer relations.

I hate to say it, but go to Evans across the street. It’s a bunch of kids running the store and they may not know everything there is to know about bikes but they’ve yet to develop the smug arrogance that the Apex Cycle old boys have mastered after years of toiling away in a bike store.
