I chose to go out of my way to this shop as I wanted to support an independent business. I needed a new rim on my bike wheel so I took the wheel into the shop. The guys were really friendly. They said it would be done if I come back in a few days, I rang them a few days later it still wasn't done. They told me to wait another few days. This kept happening for over a month. They kept telling me It would definitely be done I would waste my day going to the shop and it still wasn't ready. Eventually when asking how much it would cost it was much more than a new bike wheel so I gave up and let them keep the wheel as it seemed they didn't have my wheel in the shop/ know where it had gone. I was really dissatisfied and it all sounds a bit dodgy to me. I have seen a lot of reviews like this so I just think they need to improve their customer service or give more information to the customer about why its taking so long.

Would definitely recommend. All the staff are really friendly and willing to explain things if you don't know much about bikes like me. They've helped me out with lots of little repairs and a few bigger ones and have always been very cheap and quick to get the bike back on the road. Wouldn't go anywhere else now

Very helpful nice guys that want to help you with your bike rather than sell you a new one, had a parts bin to go through.

This is just a quick acknowledgement of my gratitude for the extra mile service I consistently receive at
WILSON'S CYCLES.

Every-time I go into Wilson's whether it be that I am just passing and want to get my brakes or gears 'quickly checked' or to purchase some component - there is always a friendly service offered. (In particular when proprietor Stephen Hume is on site)

Congratulations to Stephen on 20 YEARS at the helm of Peckham's Oldest Business (I believe it was est. in the 1870's)

Regards,
David

Having used this shop for years, I have experienced the mixed service reported by the previous reviews, which took place when they expanded hours and took on new staff. Usually 10 out of 10, but sometimes 4 out of 10.

These days the service is much more consistently good with all members of staff engaging positively with customers.

I would recommend this shop not only for its friendliness, unpretention and low prices; but also for the quality of its repairs and attention to detail.

Got a new derallieur fitted here recently. They are the cheapest bike shop around by a considerable amount. They are always super friendly, unpretentious and I didn't have to wait a week to get the work done. Have used them for years and would highly recommend them.

I would avoid this shop.

I have lived locally for several years and am a keen cyclist. I asked the owner to look at my bike in early January. It is now mid-March, I have been in 5 times, and each time a promise to sort it has been made and broken. The last one was 10 days ago: 'it'll be ready at midday tomorrow, I just need to get a part.' Today I went in and nothing had been done.

I loved the look of this shop, lovely old place, not pretentious at all and the people who work there are really friendly - but, I'm afraid they are simply unreliable and their repeated inability to keep their word actually feels contemptuous.

I so wanted to support this local business, but 9 weeks after first putting my bike in it is not fixed.

Really, really disappointed and would suggest other outlets who understand the importance of a reasonable turnaround.

Try somewhere more professional than these amateurs!

Great shop, great service, friendly, fast, good prices for work done, available anytime for repairs and service. I use this shop, along with the other 3 members of my family. We all can't be wrong...

cycle past this place everyday to work. popped in to get new inner tube but unfortunately their delivery hadn't arrived. went back the next day but still no delivery, so owner offered to stop off at his friends bike store to pick some up for the next day. customer service... easy isn't it. friendly guys, would try out there services for next time

I totally disagree with the other comment.

Visited the bike shop on Saturday 12/03/11, I arrived at 13.30 but they still promised a same day service. I asked them to call me if there were any serious problems (rather than the usual brake blocks and cables). they called before the pickup time, fortunately just a new back wheel. The bike feels like new, the price for a service is cheaper then the bike shop near goose green. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, I will be using them again.

This is my nearest bike shop by far, but I've pledged never to go I there again. I've consistently found the staff to be rude and unhelpful.

Given the choice between the androids at Evans and unprofessional, gum-chewing surliness, I'd go for Evans any day. Or better still, go to Edwardes or Brixton Cycles instead.

Friendly but professional set-up and much cheaper than the average LBS, not to mention the horrible behemoths that are Halfords and Decathlon.

Highly recommended...
