I spoke to over 3 mechanics before settling on Camden cycles. They offered the most reasonable prices, had all the parts in stock and offered same day turn around for full service.
I have never come across to a more unhelpful, dismissive, outright rude and hostile behaviour.
Stay away from those guys, they don’t care at all about the customers, money is the only thing they care.
I took my bike for a tight repair but it got flat again after only three cycling, I took back the bike to tell them and they say that they don’t guarantee for the tight, the guy was standing and looking at me like if I did something wrong.
I’m shocked the way those guys treated me! Stay away from them!!
I have rented a bike twice from Camden Cycles to go on a countryside ride, most recently yesterday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bike was great, gave a smooth ride. They lent me a spare inner tube although assured me the tyres were puncture-proof. All in all a good experience.
These guys will you sell you a bike that they will claim is “new” they will overcharge you for for it and say they will assure you that “is in perfect working condition”. I paid a lot of money to have a bike I would enjoy and also one that I could trust wouldn’t break down on me. Turns out after 2 weeks of having it and learning more about the bike that it wasn’t brand new as they claimed and there is a huge fault with the gears. Which I now have to pay for. These conmen are ripping people off and they shouldn’t and don’t deserve to be in business. My advice, stay away and take your business somewhere else.
I am the regular customer at Camden cycles and repair my bicycle many time, but today I am very happy because my bike is looking just new in reasonable amount after a general services.
One of the last few true nitty-gritty bicycle shops amidst an ever-expanding sea of low-grade,
hipster esque bicycle stores in London. Their shop may be small and a bit cramped but don't let that give you a bad impression, they have an awesome staff willing to help you out with whatever your bicycle needs and their inventory is versatile enough for any budget. I bought an affordable second hand road bike this Summer at Camden cycles and am beyond satisfied with it, especially for the price I got it, which only goes to show that these people know what they're doing and know that what they h
As a beginner cyclist a year ago I hadn't got a clue about bikes. The guys spent ages with me choosing my first road bike, did me a great deal and were brilliant. I've bought everything from them since then and the fantastic service has been consistent.
I would all cyclists to avoid this shop at all cost. I asked for a refund after a new inner tube I bought here exploded after correctly fitting it ....... they said it was my fault yet I have been repairing bikes since childhood ... this could have killed me.
Go to a reputable bike shop instead. There are several along the Chalk Farm Road or Kentish town High Street.
I do not know anything about changing the tires and tubes problems - as described in previous post - as I ask them so many time to do it for me and everything was fine. They are really nice guys and they know what they are doing. Also they charge less. Only thing is a space - I know they are looking for something bigger but they should find it quickly as they grow so fast. I bought a quite expensive bike from them for a very good price and I am the most happy man in the city. So I strongly recommend the place and service. The bike is just amazing so thanks again guys and see you soon.
Im not generally one for complaining but i feel a duty to bring this to the attention of the public as the work that Camden cycles did on my bike could of caused a fatal accident. I wanted a puncture proof tyre on my front racing wheel. So i asked them if it would be possible and they agreed and fitted the tyre, however the tyre came of the rim of the wheel while i was cycling and the inner tube exploded. I took the bike back to the shop, they tried to blame me and eventually they fixed it just charging me for the inner tube. The next time i used the bike i got a flat tyre again. This time i phoned the technical team of the tyre manufacturers. They confirmed that the tyre they had fitted was not compatible with the wheel. So Camden Cycles fitted a tyre that was incompatible with my wheel not taking in to account the specs of the tyre manufacturers. When i returned to the shop and explained this asking for the money back they refused, the total bill was over £50 and the work could have been fatal if i had been travelling down hill at speed when it exploded. Their replies to the situation included statements such as its only a couple of mm's different. Avoid for your own safety and pocket.
A great local proper green bike shop - great cost cutting service through recycling old bikes and advice. Really friendly and helpful staff and a place of character - a rare presence amongst the corporate giants. My only gripe is that you can not book a service time in advance and thus minimise the time you are without your bike but you can always wheel in the bike for repair. No regrets and worries Reasonable Prices throughout the store including accessories....got the whole package a Dawes Kingpin shopper bike with Helmet Lock and Lights for £150... No after sale worries... Will recommend them always
I would advise you to AVOID Camden Cycles.
They massively overcharged me for what I bought; I now have to replace a lot on my bike, to the point where I might as well buy a new one for almost the same price, and the lock they sold me has completely packed up. When I tried other bikes, one of them had brakes that hardly stopped the bike and they were asking for £160 for it. They laughed and shrugged when I said it was a ridiculous price when it needed to be fixed.
Having looked at other reviews, many people have had a similar experience. They're ready to sell you something that should be cheap for a lot of money, and they didn't give me a warranty, so I can't even get the repairs needed done from them.
Be careful as I bought a bike from here without checking the brand new price..
Check if you can how much the bicycle would cost new, it seems they only lobb a small amount of the brand new price.
If i had paid an extra £40 i would also have got a 1 year guarantee on a shiny new bike..
I bought an old Raleigh Shopper from here. The staff allowed me to try loads of different bikes and I got a lock and a helmet for a good price included after all that time trying. Don't go here for brand new bikes or something really pro, but for an old but still working, cheap bike to ride around London on nicely, give them a try.
- Charged me 50 pounds for a repair and the bike was in worse shape after the repair than before.
- Said they were going to call before doing the repair with a quote but didn't call.
- Seem knowledgeable when you first talk to them but are incompetent. Turned out the used (!) rear wheel they put on my bike didn't even fit, so the brakes wouldn't work and the mudguards had to come off, but they claimed there was a problem with my frame (!). Took my bike to a proper repair shop who fixed it without problems. There was nothing wrong with the frame.
- Promised they would order a fitting rear wheel for me and call me when it arrived but never called.
- All talk but really don't care about their customers.
- Gave them an opportunity to comment before I posted this review but they couldn't be bothered.
