I used Barbican's dentists and orthodontist. I have never had a problem with the dentist I go to. His work has always been superb and I will continue to see him for my dental needs. However, I have not been impressed with the orthodontist. She is knowledgeable, but is one of those people who should have never became a dentist/orthodontist in the first place. Her style of work is like brick laying or plastering and she will hurt you in every way she can. Finally, her she has consistently failed to explain the procedures clearly forcing you to 'go with the flow'.

I cant thank the staff of Barbican Dental Care in Columbus Courtyard enough for the fantastic work they have done for me. My dentist James Almeyda was 1st class and I will certainly be recommending him to my friends and colleagues. The reception staff and nurses are all great - friendly and caring. Thank you everyone..x

Overall I have impression that this practice is extremely non-professional and careless. I had an emergency appointment with Dr. James Almeyda due to the lump on my gum. Abscess was excluded as there were no signs of active inflammation nether in exam nor X-rays. As dr. Almeyda had no idea what this lump might be, he said he will refer me to hospital. I was told that referral letter will be send out immediately to Guys hospital and I will be contacted by them within a week to set up appointment. Moreover, despite of the fact that there were no signs of inflammation I was prescribed antibiotics "just in case". I believe prescription of antibiotics should not be justified like that but it is not up to me to judge. Being compliant patient I took the antibiotics as prescribed. Obviously that didn't do anything to me and the lump was progressively growing. As it became disturbing to me and as I didn't hear anything from the hospital after a week I gave a call to practice. I was surprised to find out that the referral letter still has not been sent out stating as an excuse that it was forgotten by doctor. I was told I will have to wait another couple of weeks until I get to hospital. When I expressed my concerns of the fact that lump is progressively growing I was told that Dr.Almeyda will call me to discuss my concerns and to help me find alternative options. Unfortunately I never receives that call. I tried to see him at practice without any success and I was again told that doctor will get in touch with me later. Again, I didn't hear from him over the next two days. Finally I got in contact with Guys hospital myself and got the appointment in their private clinic. It seems it will be sorted out finally, but I regret that I wasted my time and money with Barbicans.
