I am not one to leave negative reviews but this has to be shared and spoken about so it doesn’t happen to anyone else ever again.

- I attended this practice in June 2019 & consulted with [the dentist] about considering having my 7 shallow mercury fillings removed & replaced with white composites. He assured me this would not be an issue. He also recommended a DEEP CLEANING as he would be numbing my mouth to replace the mercury fillings & a cleaning at the same time would be ideal.

- My local dentist gives me a basic clean (without numbing me) every 3 to 6 months and I didn’t think this DEEP CLEANING was about to give me would be any different? But it was and I wish [he] had taken the time to explain this procedure to me and the potential side effects but he didn’t. I.e. sensitivity everywhere, loose teeth, gaps in teeth
(black triangles) after deep clean, potential for swollen gums etc etc.

- I wish he had taken the step of explaining to me the potential side effects of the above treatment which was:

1) REMOVAL OF 7 shallow MERCURY FILLINGS and replacement with white composites and
2) A DEEP CLEANING .

- [He] carried out above treatment over 3 appointments (over 3 weeks - One appointment each week).

- I also felt like [he] was rushing the treatment because on the second appointment when he was using an injection to numb me he kept asking me if my mouth was numb yet, and I kept telling him ‘no not yet’. Instead of numbing the left side of my mouth he numbed my left eye!
This was very scary. He also forgot to give me a ‘charcoal tablet’ after the 2nd appointment which is his protocol after removing patient’s mercury fillings, again a sign he was not quite on point.

- Immediately after the MERCURY REPLACEMENT + DEEP CLEAN I suffered the following:

1) Both my bottom wisdom teeth became loose & had to be extracted?
2) All my gums became swollen & the swelling would not go down even months later.
3) I now have sensitivity all over which I never had before
4) He also ruined my bite (I am not sure if he was just careless or heavy handed) but as a result of the altered bite, I am biting my cheeks, have trouble eating especially hard things & issues with my speech! (This is an on-going issue for me for which there is no easy fix thanks to [him] and I am still trying to find a fix)
5) [He] also gave me a ‘Sleep clench Inhibitor’ (SCI) which only covers the top front teeth. He said I needed it and asked me if I clenched my teeth at night. I told him, I was not aware of any clenching but he advised I should wear it. So I got this SCI and found out recently by THREE different RESTORATIVE SPECIALIST dentists that this SCI given to me to wear at night by [him] is the cause of my bite problems!

I had none of the above issues prior to seeing [this dentist] in June 2019.

1) My 1st MAIN ISSUE & the reason for leaving this review is, WHY did [he] not explain all these potential side effects to me before the treatment? Had he done this, I could have got a second opinion or held off the treatment until I was sure how to proceed! But he never warned me!

- Just make sure U ask this dentist or any dentist to explain all potential side effects to U and if U are unsure make sure U get a 2nd opinion.

2) The 2nd REASON, I am leaving this review is, I feel it is unacceptable that as a dentist he cannot EXPLAIN to me why all this happened to me under his watch. He has caused me serious damage, I have lost teeth & he has ruined my bite for which there is no easy fix and he should be compensating me for all this stress, inconvenience and pain! So if anyone is reading this, pls do ur utmost double due diligence if U hav to & ask any dentist to fully explain to U all the side effects of a treatment because they don’t always do this as I found in my experience. Try to get copies of dental records of ur 1st consultation before U proceed with the treatment. If U are still unsure, go for a 2nd opinion! I hope this never happens 2 anyone ever again as it really messes up ur life!!
