Walton Health Centre

I have been at the health centre for 5 years (Red Practice). I have found all Doctors that I have seen to be good, but the waiting times once you arrive for appointments seems to be getting worse and there are always so many locum Drs that I rarely seem to see the same once twice.

This health centre is living in the stone age. When I moved here, I signed up as it was where my partner was registered. At that point he did warn me that it wasn't the best and the actual doctor for the blue practice was currently under trial for fraud or something......I have still to this day never met this doctor. Everytime you go, you get a different locum doctor. The place never looks clean and seriously needs some work. They have an archaic sound system which the doctors say your name to advise you that it's now your turn. You really have to concentrate to be able to hear your name.....several times I have missed that my children's names have been called due to that stupid system. If you need an emergency appointment, it's pretty much pot luck as they have no queuing system so you just have to keep hitting your redial button in hope that you will get through......I have never managed to get an emergency appointment at this doctors for my children when really needed. I just get told to take them to the hospital. This Doctors is a joke and I would not recommend it to anyone.

As per previous post I would definitely not recommend this health centre. My reasons are primarily around the reception staff who are exceptionally rude and seem to find everything an inconvenience. There are 4 surgeries in this health centre and the day you register dictates which surgery you register with only by the time I collated the paperwork and went back they switched surgeries and made me fill out a new set of paperwork. When I tried to change my name and address on my details after marrying and moving again they were rude and incompetent! On top of that you the reception is exceptionally inflexible and unhelpful when phoning for appointments! No options just this is available take it or leave it! Building is tired and appears unclean. Only ever saw a dr twice and no complaints but surgery in total a very bad experience! We moved to Fort House Surgery which a smaller but far friendlier and flexible surgery! Very happy there!!

I would cetainlny NOT recommend to anyone. The health centre is tired and looks like it is long overdue a refurb. My wife and I joined after moving to the area and found the reception staff to be incredibly rude. There seems to be no concept of customer service and we were treated like a huge inonvenience every time we needed to make an appointment, register, change our details etc. Everything was too much effort for the staff. Having complained and found that nothing improved we decided to move to another surgery. What a difference, the staff are polite and courteous. I'm so pleased we made the change.

This is a quite a big health centre made up of 4 different GP practices plus other services such as health visitors and midwives. We've always found it to be really good and comprehensive and have no complaints. As with anywhere else they can run behind sometimes, but this never seems to be to any real extremes. If you're new to the area I would certainly recommend that you sign up.
