In terms of producing alcohol, London has more of a history of making gin. So it’s somewhat fitting that London Cru, the capital’s first winery, is housed in a former gin distillery. Short of having a vineyard everything else happens here: fermenting the grapes, aging the wine and then bottling it. The grapes themselves are delivered to London Cru within 36 hours of being picked, and arrive in refrigerated trucks. Currently they’re manufacturing syrah, chardonnay, barbera and cabernet sauvignon.
The winery offers tours where visitors get to see how the wine is made, as well as tastings and courses in winemaking. There are also plans to host supperclub dinners in the future.
